"My advice for anyone needing Additional Support is go for it. They really know how to blend into the background and give you all the help you need. Now, I'm off to University"
Nickie Churchard is completing his BTEC in Applied Science and in September starts his degree course in Physics at The University of Northampton. He has been a model student who also knows how to enjoy the social life at Northampton College.
"After my motorbike accident I spent some time in hospital, so missed out on my GCSEs. I found out I could do a course with Additional Support here. I did my GCSEs for a year, liked science and decided I wanted to go to university. I was given a lot of advice and support and realised this was the course for me."
"The best bit, apart from the course is the socialising and the support. You meet lots of new people and over the three years I have met three different groups of new people. We all really get on. The Pit Stop Cafe is a great place for meeting people."
"Staff in the Additional Support Team are brill. As a disabled student, they keep me on track. Back me up. I wanted to quit a number of times when the course got difficult but they always talked me through it. You need that sometimes. I know lots people who have turned it down - they think people will look down on them. In my experience, depending how you want them to work with you, they can blend into background without being noticed. Very approachable, understanding people."
