"I've had brilliant support and the course is very practical. We work on real-life projects, so the theory begins to mean so much more. I can't imagine enjoying anything more than this."
Steven Holt is a real computer buff and in February he won an award for designing and delivering the College's Most Innovative IT Project.
"Originally, I wanted to do a BTEC National, but I had lost so much time in hospital last year that it made sense to spend a year on the NVQ2 IT Qualification for IT Users. The tutors really know their stuff and they take time to get to know you as a person - a human being rather than a number."
"In September I begin my two year BTEC. I've always been fascinated with computers, especially the nuts and bolts - building and repairing hardware. Nothing stands still in IT. My award was for the work I did developing the course website. I am very proud of it."
"As a wheelchair user, I appreciate the thought that has gone into making Northampton College wheelchair friendly. There are tons of disabled toilets, access around the place is good and 95% of the outside doors are simple push button operated. It's a heck of a lot better thought out than, say, school buildings."
After completing his studies, Steven plans to work in hardware maintenance.
