Hannah Jobling

Hannah was amazed at her A and B grades. It means she has got her place at Derby University. “I really can’t believe it. I got an A in Media Studies, an A in my Extended Project and a B in English Language and the results are far better than I thought they would be. I chose to come to college because it had a large choice of subjects and a nice feel to it. You get more freedom and are treated like an adult which suited me. I am going to study Primary Education at Derby and I am so excited.”

Lucie Glennon

Lucie was so pleased to have achieved the grades she needed to get into The University of Glamorgan. “I am going to study Film Studies there which is what I have always been interested in. I will miss college though – it was such fun and I made some amazing friends. The best thing about college is that the teachers have all worked in industry so you

are taught by experts in the field. As I want to get into films that was important. I want to be taught by someone who knows what it’s really like. I got two Bs in Film and Media and a C in English. I am so excited about the future.”

Gregory Boatswain

Gregory has ambitions to become a film producer and thanks to his A Level grades he is now on his way to achieving his dream. “I got a B in Media, a C in English and a D in Film Studies which means I can go to Leeds Metropolitan University to study Film Production. I was worried about my grades but I am going to be smiling for a whole week now – that’s how happy and amazed I am. I chose Northampton College because of its reputation as the best college in the area. Staying on at school never really appealed to me. I liked the relaxed atmosphere and made lots of friends. After my degree, I plan to gain experience in the film industry but I will never forget my time at college.’

Abigail Shaylor

Abigail had previously dropped out of college as she didn’t feel ready. Her time out paid off as she now has an A* in Chemistry and two As in her Maths and Physics A Levels. “I was so nervous about getting my results but I am really pleased. I wasn’t expecting to do so well. I chose my subjects because I had an interest in them but I found I enjoyed learning even more than I initially thought. College is great – the facilities are fantastic and the tutors are brilliant. I am now off to The University of Birmingham to study for a degree in Physics and my A Level grades have definitely helped me get on.”

Kieran Jones

Kieran is setting up his own events management company instead of going to university – he is aiming high! “I chose to do A Levels at college because it offered the subjects I was interested in. I had previously begun A levels in computing and IT but soon realised that was not what I was good at. I decided to focus on media and related subjects to help me when I eventually set up my business. I got an A in Media, a C in Photography and a D in Communication Studies. The skills I have learnt along the way will be invaluable in my future plans.”
