The individual award titles listed above share the same portfolio of modules which facilitates flexible study and blended learning. Students who decide to work towards the Foundation Degree are required to take work-based learning units.
The Higher National Diploma qualifications represent the equivalent of two years full time study but they can be completed on a part time basis.
Stage 1 is delivered at Northampton College by arrangement with the University of Northampton. Stage 2 is studied at the University of Northampton. The HNC course is traditionally taken at the University of Northampton by parttime (usually evening class) students in full-time employment.
Course Content
A sound theoretical base underpins the courses with an emphasis on the practical approach to solving a variety of business problems. It covers key aspects of business with the opportunity to specialise at Stage 2, in Accounting, Marketing, or Human Resource Management. As such, the
Higher National Diploma provides a wide variety of skills required by modern businesses. Assignments and activities are designed to simulate real world situations.

• BA (Hons) Business and Management Degree at the University of Northampton (an 11 month top-up degree specifically for the FdA / Higher National Diploma graduate) or the second year of the Combined honours programme at the University of Northampton.
