Continuous Professional Development
Our annual appraisal and Continuous Professional Development (CPD) scheme is designed, amongst other things, to support all full time and fractional staff in planning their own specific training needs.
A flexible 'portfolio system' means that staff can complete their CPD at times they find convenient.
INSET Days
INSET stands for In Service Education and Training. We have four cross-college INSET days every year, when the College is closed to learners.They provide an ideal opportunity for everyone to keep up to date, as well as offering learning opportunities while staff are all together, yet free from the hustle and bustle of the working day.
Sessions are timetabled and repeated throughout the day to offer the greatest flexibility for staff to meet their own needs.
Consultation
Everyone in the Staff Development team takes pride in listening to staff and recognising their needs.As well as the appraisal and CPD procedures, we use Staff Development Plans, questionnaires and Self Assessment Reviews (SARs) to ensure we really do have our ears close to the ground.
Training times
We aim to provide training opportunities at convenient times throughout the day, including breakfast, lunchtime and twilight sessions.
