Summary of course

The ITQ Level 2 Award aims to develop knowledge of standard IT hardware and software. Learners become skilled in the use of different software applications to enable the efficient and effective completion of tasks to business standard.

What will I study?

To achieve this qualification, candidates must complete the mandatory Units plus two of the Optional Units.

Mandatory Unit:

  • Word Processing Software
  • Improving Productivity Using IT

Optional Units:

  • Using the Internet and Using Email
  • Database Software
  • Desktop Publishing Software
  • Presentation Software
  • Spreadsheet Software

Progression:

Learners can progress onto the ITQ level 2 Certificate.

Level 2 IT qualifications are sought after by many employers.

How is the course assessed?

The course is assessed through workbooks and in-class assessments. Students work individually at their own pace within the Skills Centre with tutors present to support and guide learning. Progress is monitored throughout the course. Students are required to pass a task-based controlled assessment to complete each module.

Who is this course for?

The ITQ Level 2 Award aims to develop skills and standards of IT hardware and software usage to enable learners to be able use IT in professional business environments. The course is aimed at learners who are looking to advance knowledge and skills within IT to a good standard.

Entry Requirements for new students

Candidates must be able to demonstrate literacy skills, generally at Level 1 as a minimum.

Basic keyboard and mouse skills are also necessary.

General Info (materials required for the course)

Students should attend for six hours week as a minimum for this course: typically for two hours, three times a week. Students may find it useful to have a memory stick/flash drive so they can complete additional study at home. These can be purchased at the time of enrolment
