Summary of course

The ITQ Certificate Level 2 aims to develop knowledge of standard IT hardware and software and develop knowledge of different software applications and use them to complete tasks effectively.

To achieve this qualification, candidates must complete the mandatory Units plus two of the Optional Units.

Mandatory Unit:

  • Word Processing Software
  • Improving Productivity Using IT

Optional Units:

  • Using the Internet and Using Email
  • Database Software
  • Desktop Publishing Software
  • Presentation Software
  • Spreadsheet Software

All units are subject to change and may be withdrawn.

How is the course assessed?

The course is assessed through workbooks and in-class assessments. Students work individually at their own pace within the Skills Centre with tutors present to support and guide learning. Progress is monitored throughout the course. Students are required to pass a task-based controlled assessment to complete each module.

Who is this course for?

The ITQ Certificate Level 2 aims to develop knowledge of standard IT hardware and software and develop knowledge of different software applications and use them to complete tasks effectively.

Entry Requirements for new students

Candidates must be able to demonstrate literacy skills, generally at Level 1 minimum. Basic keyboard and mouse skills are also necessary.

General Info (materials required for the course)

Students should attend for six hours week as a minimum for this course: typically for two hours, three times a week. Students may find it useful to have a memory stick/flash drive so they can complete additional study at home. These can be purchased at the time of enrolment.
