Summary of course
This is an introductory Level 2 course for new students joining the Skills Centre to study IT. During this twenty hour study block students will commence study and be assessed at an appropriate level. Learning and achievement will be reviewed on completion to identify the next step.
This Level 2 short course provides the opportunity to become more familiar with a selection of software packages.
How is the course assessed?
The course is assessed through workbooks and in-class assessments. Students work individually at their own pace within the Skills Centre with tutors present to support and guide learning. Progress is monitored throughout the course.
Students are required to pass a task-based controlled assessment to complete each module.
Who is this course for?
Students who who wish to work towards an IT qualification. This course is for learners who would like to broaden their application knowledge to produce simple documents.
Entry Requirements for new students
Candidates must be able to demonstrate literacy skills, generally at Level 1 minimum. Basic keyboard and mouse skills are also necessary.

General Info (materials required for the course)
Students should attend for four hours week as a minimum for this course: typically for two hours, twice a week.
Students may find it useful to have a memory stick/flash drive so they can complete additional study at home. These can be purchased at the time of enrolment.
