Summary of course

This is the first course for new students joining the Skills Centre to study IT. During this twenty hour study block learners will commence study and be assessed at an appropriate level. Learning and achievement will be reviewed on completion to identify the next step.

This course provides a taster of a selection of different software packages.

How is the course assessed?

The course is assessed through workbooks and in-class assessments. Learners work individually at their own pace within the Skills Centre with tutors present to support and guide learning. Progress is monitored throughout the course.

Students are required to pass a task-based controlled assessment to complete each module.

Who is this course for?

Students who are new to the Skills Centres who wish to work towards an IT qualification. This course is for Students who have basic IT skills or those who would like to broaden their application knowledge to produce simple documents.

General Info (materials required for the course)

Students should attend for four hours per week as a minimum: typically two hours, twice a week.

Students may find it useful to have a memory stick/flash drive so they can complete additional study at home. These can be purchased at the time of enrolment.
