Summary of course

This is an initial course for new students wanting an introduction to Information Technology (IT). During these eleven weeks (two hours, twice a week) students will be taught by a specialist tutor.

Students will study:

  • word processing software
  • IT User fundamentals
  • computer basics
  • using the internet

IT qualifications are highly sought after by employers. Students can progress on to Level 1 and Level 2 IT qualifications in the Skills Centre.

How is the course assessed?

Students complete a portfolio of evidence throughout the course. A certificate will be issued upon successful completion.

Who is this course for?

The course is aimed at students who are beginning to use IT for the first time.

Entry Requirements for new students

Students will have an appointment in which a short assessment of understanding will be completed.
