Course Content

You don’t need any prior knowledge, but you should have interest and enthusiasm for the subject, enjoy the creative process, and be willing to put in additional hours. You’ll learn how to use 35mm SLR and digital cameras in an effective and creative way, and will study different styles, genres and photographic traditions, including portraiture, documentary, photo- journalism, landscape photography, still life and experimental imagery. As well as colour assignments, you’ll process film, and print in black and white in the darkroom, learn various printing techniques, and produce digital images to a high standard. Presentation, layout and mounting are also taught, and you’ll learn creative and compositional skills. This course is assessed through a combination of coursework, a major project of personal significance and two controlled assignments.
