Chemistry is concerned with the structure and interaction of all matter in the universe, whether animal, vegetable or mineral, and occupies a central position among the sciences. On the one hand it can be linked with physics through physical chemistry, and on the other with biology through biochemistry. It’s also fundamental to physiology and medicine, and plays an important role in such sciences as geology, environmental science, and chemical engineering. Chemistry A Level is essential for all medical or medically-related professions.
This course is modular and each unit will be assessed separately. In the first year, you’ll study Atoms, Bonds and Groups; Chains, Energy and Resources; and Practical Skills in Chemistry 1. In the second year, you’ll study Rings, Polymers and Analysis; Equilibria, Energetics and Resources; and Practical Skills in Chemistry 2.
