Course Content
Do you enjoy watching all kinds of film? Is film important to your life? Are you interested in researching films, their directors and genres? If so, this course will help deepen your understanding and enjoyment of film. Focusing on the academic study of film-making, it examines artistic, technological, social and economic issues, enabling you to develop skills of observation, critical analysis and personal reflection.
The course will include a variety of screenings and analysis of film texts, as well as the work of well-known directors, and the history of film. The examined coursework enables you to script, storyboard and make a short section of film to enable you to show your understanding of film in a practical sense. Modules include ‘Exploring Film Form’, ‘British and American Film’, ‘Film Research’, ‘Creative Projects’, and ‘Film Issues and Debates’.
