Summary of course
This course is designed to prepare you for employment in the vehicle body repair and/or refinishing industry. The course is taught in our well equipped workshops and classrooms, it will involve completion of theoretical study using classroom delivery, assignments, phase tests and on-line multi-choice exams. The practical sessions require you to satisfy practical assessment criteria using pre-set tasks with the results recorded in an electronically based practical task workbook.

How is the course assessed?
There is continuous assessment of practical work throughout the course and end of unit on-line multi-choice examinations.
In year 1 there are two unit phase tests via short answer written papers. Students will also need to produce a portfolio of evidence in the form of a folder of assessed college work gained over the year.
Your Study Programme
If you are aged 16-18, you will join a Study Programme. We will make sure you are working at the right level on your core qualification and are challenged to achieve the highest level of qualification you can. All students will continue to improve their maths and English and if you don't have a grade 4 (C) at GCSE, we will work with you towards achieving that goal (subject to specific entry requirements for particular courses). Work experience will be part of your study programme and complement your college study and prepare you for employment. You will also get involved in activities to help you develop life skills and to build your confidence so you can make progress in your career. Weekly timetables will include tutorial support which may comprise of full group activities or one to one sessions to discuss individual progress or support needs.
Who is this course for?
The course is ideal for you if you have an interest in paint refinishing and wish to gain a Level 1 technical qualification in vehicle body/paint procedures and develop your practical skills to enable you to work in the motor vehicle industry.

Entry Requirements for new students

*All applicants will be invited in for interview.
Equivalent qualifications will be considered except where English has been studied as a second language and is required at GCSE grade 2 (E).
In exceptional circumstances, applications which do not meet the formal entry criteria may be considered on an individual basis.
Interview Requirements
You must bring your interview letter to your appointment and arrive 15 minutes before your interview is due to take place.
Interviews will be held, generally in the evening, where you will have a one to one personal interview. A screen test at the start of your course will determine your entry point on to your chosen programme of study.
The personal interview will help identify and satisfy any concerns you have about your programme.

At your interview you will be provided with a preferred Kit List that will assist you during your course. This kit will always belong to you and is fully transferable to take with you in to employment.
