Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement

Summary of course

The role of an Assessor can be diverse and, as such, there are various options available to prove competence within an assessment process. Your precise requirements should be discussed. The units for this course are:

Unit 1: Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment

This unit assesses the student's underpinning knowledge of the important principles and practices used within assessment.

Unit 2: Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment

For practitioners who assess the demonstration of competence in a work environment using the following assessment methods: observation, examining work products, oral questioning and discussion, use of others (e.g. witnesses), student statements and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

Unit 3: Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding

For practitioners who assess knowledge and/or skills in vocationally-related subject areas who use the following assessment methods: assessments in simulated environments, skills tests, oral and written questions, assignments, projects, case studies and RPL. This may take place in training workshops, classrooms or other learning environments.

Delivered via interactive workshops (if appropriate) and on-going one to one assessment with a qualified Northampton College Assessor.

How is the course assessed?

Students will complete a portfolio of evidence.

Who is this course for?

This assessor qualification is appropriate for you if your role currently involves conducting an assessment process with NVQs and structured in-house training or non NVQ Awards i.e. BTEC, VRQ.

The Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement, is for those students who require the necessary knowledge, methods and practices to meet the agreed standards of assessment within both vocational and non-vocational environments.

Entry Requirements for new students

There are no formal entry requirements, however, you need to be working within an environment where assessment occurs. You will require access to students for assessment.
