Four years on after its capital re-building project was given the green light, Northampton College is now pleased to unveil its fully-completed brand new building and world class facilities at its Booth Lane site.
The new 22,000 square metre building which corners St Gregory’s Road and Booth Lane was completed and opened for learning in September 2012 and provides the latest sustainable, energy efficient technology and facilities.
Following the official opening ceremony by HRH The Duke of York in March this year, the finishing touches have been made to what has been one of the country’s most innovative and ambitious FE college improvement ventures and we are pleased to welcome new students to the first term in the new building this September. The new building has been designed to embrace the College’s ethos for 21st century learning. It includes space for some future expansion in student numbers but was primarily designed to upgrade the quality of its facilities. The building is designed to be adaptable in both layout and function, reflecting the latest thinking in the planning of educational facilities. The new building will not only improve the service provided to existing users but also encourage new staff and students to take part in with what will be an exceptional learning experience. Some of the impressive new facilities include a full sized sports hall equipped with the latest equipment offering students the ability to choose from a range of sporting activities from basketball and badminton to fitness training and indoor football. The re-modelled site includes an outdoor courtyard boasting beautifully landscaped areas and student communal seating. The award winning library also offers the very best learning resources and e-learning technology not to mention a team of highly experienced and passionate staff. The environmental features of the new building are considerable and a significant effort has been made to reduce its carbon footprint. Bio-diversity has been taken into account throughout the whole project which will not only encourage wildlife but will also provide energy saving opportunities throughout the whole College. Northampton College has just launched its new part-time directory which is jam-packed with courses aimed at boosting your career prospects and employability or simply learning a new skill.
