A group of Level 3 students have been working with the team at the Royal & Derngate, helping with the make-up for Northampton Musical Theatre Company’s production of Wizard of Oz.

Louise Leeming, Patrycja Pachuta, Tania Reis, Shania Carpenter, Caprice Kemp, Kirsty Ball, Neve Tough and Emily Keay did the make-up for all of the main cast, including characters such as the wicked witch, the lion, the tin man, the scarecrow and 20 munchkins.

The project formed part of their work experience programme and gave them an exclusive insight into life in a major theatre.

Beauty Therapy tutor Dawn Linnell said: “This was a brilliant opportunity for the students to experience working on a real production with real actors on a real stage. It gives them the chance to put into practice what they have been learning at college and see the impact it has on the production.

“All of the students did a fabulous job – the make-up looked incredible. Hopefully this will give them a huge sense of achievement and will inspire them to want to do more of this kind of work in the future.”
