Closure of The Albero
Having concluded a period of consultation with staff at The Albero restaurant, a final decision has now been made and the restaurant has been closed from today (9 May, 2012). The decision to close has been based fundamentally on concerns over its current and future financial viability.
We are very proud of what has been achieved at The Albero and we are grateful for the support of some loyal customers who have been highly complimentary about the standard of food and service that the restaurant has delivered since it opened in October 2010.
The Albero has been operating in the midst of a nationwide downturn and its failure to generate sufficient income is no reflection on the staff who have worked very hard in difficult circumstances to deliver an excellent dining experience.
Individual discussions are now underway with four members of staff who are likely to be made redundant as a result of the closure. Three apprentices who were following Apprenticeship programmes at the restaurant will remain with the College and will be able to complete their qualifications.
