A fresh approach towards education in Daventry Work is well underway this summer to completely refurbish the facilities at the Daventry Centre, Northampton College focusing on its new status as a dedicated vocational skills centre. The improvements will include a brand new home for The Salon NC among other things.

Work is well underway this summer to completely refurbish the facilities at the Daventry Centre, Northampton College focusing on its new status as a dedicated vocational skills centre. The improvements will include a brand new home for The Salon NC, run along professional lines by students and college staff offering high quality hairdressing and beauty therapy treatments at reasonable prices.

From September 2012, the courses will be designed to provide skills for young people so they can take up careers in a range of areas including Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy, Business, Art and Design, IT, Vehicle Mechanics, Childcare, Healthcare and Public Services.

There will also be opportunities for adults to follow programmes that improve their career prospects, focusing especially on English, Maths and IT skills, as well English for Speakers of Other Languages.

To lead this new approach, Ellen Buttler has been recruited as Head of Centre at Daventry in which she will be dedicated full-time to its re-modelled vocational skills centre.

Ellen has worked in post-16 education and training for over 20 years and has a great deal of experience in teaching. Her most recent role has been Director for Business and Management at North Warwickshire and Hinckley College.

Ellen believes that education should always challenge people to progress, grow and succeed. She is passionate about equality of opportunity, and strives to make sure students reach their individual potential and get the most out of a positive learning experience. She is committed to meeting the needs and aspirations of students by using new and exciting strategies to improve the quality of teaching and learning to build on student success. Ellen strongly believes that every student matters and education can transform lives.
