Counselling Services
Taking REAL care of you
A caring environment
Here at Northampton College, we aim to take good care of all our learners. So, whatever your needs, whether personal, financial or with your studies, you’ll find a huge range of resources to help and guide you throughout your time at the College.
College Counsellors
A free and confidential counselling service is available to all our learners. Counselling gives you the opportunity to discuss anything you may be concerned about, and helps you to deal with your situation by making your own choices.
This service is designed to help learners who are experiencing personal difficulties. Whatever the issues, you are welcome to bring them for discussion. If the in-house provision should prove inappropriate, then the service will provide the contact point to other relevant organisations.
Common issues brought to counselling include
- Relationship worries
- Academic concerns
- Significant loss
- Depression
- Sexual health issues
- Welfare concerns
- Anxiety
- Abuse

Safeguarding Policy
We recognise that members of staff and learners have an important role to play in safeguarding the welfare of children and vulnerable adults, preventing their abuse. In consultation with Social Services, we have produced a comprehensive Policy to ensure that the welfare of the child is always placed at the centre of its activities.
