Mentors and personal support
Taking REAL care of you
Your Personal Tutor
As soon as you start your studies, you’ll be allocated a Personal Tutor. This is the person you can come to for help, advice and support – whether it’s for your learning programme or personal issues. You’ll attend regular tutorials and together with your tutor, you’ll decide on your Individual Learning Plan (ILP). You’ll be able to agree your own personal learning targets, talk about your progress and, of course, your achievements at college will be recorded. If you are studying on a part-time course, your subject teachers will provide the support you need and/or refer you to specialist support if that is more appropriate.
Student Mentors
Student mentors can offer you extra help and support on any issues that may be causing you difficulty or interfering with your studies. You’ll find mentors in the Student Services Centres at Booth Lane and Daventry.
Everyone has a different style of approaching problems and there are a number of services available at the College to ensure our students have access to help and support.
Student Services staff also run support groups for students who are in or leaving care, carers, young parents and international students. Just call into a Student Service Centre for more information.
