The number of students studying business at Northampton College has more than doubled in two years, with more people than ever before interested in setting up their own company.

Latest figures have revealed a total of 296 people applied for the College's Level 3 BTEC in Business in 2016, compared to 199 the year before and 117 in 2014.

And 2017 looks like being even more popular, with 92 people having already applied for courses starting this September, compared to just 37 at the same stage last year.

The figures reflect the growing entrepreneurial spirit in Northampton, with the town recently highlighted as one of the best towns in the country to start your own business and the 2016 Centre for Cities report ranking it as the best place outside London for start-ups.
