This course will start you on your journey to becoming a qualified Barber and will ensure you are prepared for working in a customer based, fast paced environment. You will develop your barbering skills in our commercial salon and get hands-on experience of working with real clients.

Upon successful completion of this course, you could be self-employed, a mobile stylist or maybe even own your own salon.

Students are required to attend all classes once a week from 5.30pm to 9pm.

During your time at College the emphasis will be placed on both practical and theory aspects of the course. You also need time to study, to practise at home and set time aside for revision for exams, assignments and homework. Please be aware that you will be expected to set aside a minimum of four hours per week to study and practise at home and there is a small element of online study.

Some aspects may require students to work on each other therefore they should be prepared to allow other students to practise on them. Students will be assessed on external clients who will pay for their services. Please note that should you provide a client for a practical assessment a one off one off, registration fee of £1 is required. Payment for each service will be charged.

  • Who is this course for?

    This course is ideal for you if you have a Level 2 or 3 qualification in hairdressing and have an interest in Barbering and wish to gain a Level 3 certificate qualification.

  • General info

    You will need to purchase barbering equipment and uniform which you will be expected to wear at all times. Details of these will be discussed with you during your telephone interview.

    You will also be required to provide an A4 lever-arch folder and a pack of ten dividers to be used for your portfolio of work, an A4 writing pad and a pen. These will need to accompany you to every lesson.

  • Progression and Career Opportunities

    After successful completion of this course you could work in the Barbering industry or as a self-employed barber or you may wish to achieve a Level 3 hairdressing qualification.

  • Entry Requirements for new students

    A Level 2 qualification in hairdressing or barbering You should be well groomed, motivated and be able to communicate at all levels. You should be dexterous and well-coordinated, have a good level of written and spoken English and able to use a computer to access the internet, send email and use basic ?word? applications.
