“I had never considered teaching when I started out as an apprentice electrician, but as soon as I took on the challenge, I knew it was the career for me. My years in industry meant that my teaching was relevant to students, which they really valued. Teaching is not easy – it’s incredibly challenging, but incredibly rewarding. The opportunity to see the progression of students from their first day in the classroom to seeing them working on site for major employers, or even running their own company, is something to cherish. You get an enormous sense of pride and real job satisfaction knowing that you have made a real difference to that person's life."
