Engineering student Matthew Quincey is in pole position for an exciting career in the high octane world of F1 after landing an apprenticeship with world champions Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains (HPP).
Having studied a BTEC Level Three in Engineering at Northampton College, Matthew landed the role as part of a tie-in with the Brixworth-based power unit manufacturer. He will start his apprenticeship with HPP after completing his qualifications at the college, giving him the perfect platform to pursue a career in F1.
Matthew said: "Receiving the placement with Mercedes was such a confidence boost. Working as part of a team creating F1 engines is incredible, it's the dream really, and I have definitely found my true calling in engineering. My work ethic has changed so much since coming to Northampton College and I feel honoured that HPP think I am worthy of working for them."
Former Travel student Louisa is currently flying high after landing her dream job as part of the British Airways cabin crew.
She said: “I absolutely loved my time at Northampton College. The skills I gained from the course were incredibly important for the path I was about to go down. I gained confidence in myself, in problem solving and self-motivation by making sure I got my assignments in on time. The Travel course is a great way of getting an insight into the industry.”
The sports facilities at Northampton College ensure students are at the very top of their game, allowing them to focus on honing their skills and pushing towards their goals.
Sulayman has gone to earn a place at Nottingham Trent University and believes his time at Northampton College played a vital part in his success.
He said: “Studying sport at Northampton College was the best decision I ever made. I was blown away by the facilities such as the Astroturf pitch, sports field and the gym. I am much better suited to practical, hands-on learning and the course has definitely helped me get into university.”
