The Bloodhound SSC Open Evening

As part of Northampton College’s wider Open Event, prospective students and the general public are invited to visit our Booth Lane site and see the Bloodhound SSC exhibition. The College will be open in all its teaching areas to offer advice and guidance on our full range of courses and career opportunities. Including:
• Presentation about the Bloodhound SSC project
• Visit to the Bloodhound SSC exhibition and simulated highspeed driving experience
• Advanced engineering and motor vehicle demonstrations by existing students of Northampton College
• Tour of engineering and advanced technology workshops and facilities at the College
• Gravity racing – see the College’s own competition vehicle in production
• Engine rigs in operation
• Cosworth – electric bicycle, ultra lightweight miniature diesel engine and Bloodhound-branded V8 engine
Bloodhound SSC visits Northampton College on Wednesday, 22 February and Thursday, 23 February 2012.
BLOODHOUND SSC (Supersonic Car) is leading the latest attempt to break the world land speed record. Bloodhound, designed and built in Britain, is powered by a Rolls Royce Eurofighter Jet Engine and Hybrid Rocket and delivers the equivalent of 135,000 horse power (equivalent to the power of 112 Bugatti Veyron Super Sport cars).
A life-size replica of the Bloodhound car will be based in Northampton College’s brand new state-of-the-art engineering studios to help inspire the next generation of engineers, and boost the number of pupils and students taking courses in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects. Northampton College is delighted to welcome local high technology engineering company Cosworth, a key partner in, and sponsor of, the development of this extraordinary car.

• Go Motorsport – Formula 1 components – display and discussion
