If so, this exciting new technical qualification will give you the foundation you need to set you on the path towards your ideal career. You will complete a Level 3 in onsite construction with a specialism in Carpentry.

The T Level in onsite construction has been designed to deliver a high level of knowledge about the onsite industry as well as the occupational skills required to enter the industry (known as ?threshold competence?). A learner who completes this qualification is well placed to develop to full occupational competence with the correct support and training.

Included alongside the technical qualification is the completion of an industrial placement consisting of day release, working in industry. The industry placement enables students to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and behaviours to work successfully in this industry and be work-ready at the end of the course.

  • What will I study?

    The qualification will help learners gain an understanding of the onsite industry and the sector, and learners will cover topics such as health and safety, construction science principles and sustainability in the construction industry.

    You will also cover the occupational specialism in carpentry and joinery.

    You will work with local employers who will contribute to the knowledge and delivery of training. Employers will provide demonstrations and talks on the industry, and where possible, work placements will also be provided by the employers.

  • Who is this course for?

    This qualification is for 16?18-year-old learners who wish to work within the onsite construction industry.

    • Formative assessments and homework throughout the course.
    • Observations in placement.
    • Supported by a package of employability and enrichment opportunities to strengthen the core knowledge, skills and behaviours developed during your studies.
  • Your Study Programme

    If you are aged 16-18, you will join a Study Programme. We will make sure you are working at the right level on your core qualification and are challenged to achieve the highest level of qualification you can. Work experience will be part of your study programme and complement your college study and prepare you for employment. You will also get involved in activities to help you develop life skills and to build your confidence so you can make progress in your career. Weekly timetables will include tutorial support which may comprise of full group activities or one to one sessions to discuss individual progress or support needs.

  • Progression and Career Opportunities

    There are four main progression routes following the completion of T Levels. Following the completion of the T Level in Onsite Construction Carpentry and Joinery, you may go on to:

    Skilled employment within the Construction sector

    Higher Level apprenticeships at Level 4 and above

    Higher Education as UCAS points have been awarded to T-Levels allowing progression routes onto Higher Educational pathways.

  • Entry Requirements for new students

    Five GCSEs at grade 9-5 including English Language, maths and science. Alternatively Pass Level 2 in Carpentry and Joinery with English Language and maths GCSEs at grade 5.

  • Admissions Process

    We recommend that you attend one of our exciting open events so that you can look around the department, the college and meet the tutors. You are welcome to do this before or after you apply. These events have proved very successful in ensuring students and their families see the best of what the college has to offer such as our inspirational teaching areas, teachers, library facilities and places to eat.

    Once you have applied our experienced Enrolment team will consider your application carefully and will let you know, by email, if the College would like to make you a conditional offer based on you meeting the specified entry requirements.
