Bus passes

We offer Stagecoach bus passes to students who are under the age of 19 at the start of their course so you can save money on fares.

Bus passes issued by the College can be used every day at any time, including half term (this excludes full terms – Easter, Summer and Christmas.)

If you would like to buy a bus pass, please drop in to Student Services to apply. You can pay with a debit or credit card - we no longer accept cash or cheque payments in college. Please note that bus passes can only be purchased termly and not yearly.

Students can access help with the cost of a bus pass through the College bursary. For more information and to access the online application form, please visit our bursaries and finance page.

Subsidised travel Scheme (STS) - available for students aged 16-18

Through the College subsidised travel scheme (STS), we can offer you a subsidised bus pass if you are aged between 16-18, studying a full-time course, and live more than three miles from the College.

You will be required to purchase a voucher code from Student Services at the College, which you will need to enter on the Stagecoach website to claim your discount.

Once you have purchased your pass, the website will present you with two options – you can add your pass to a current smartcard, or order a new smartcard (this will take approximately 3 days to arrive). Please note that the prices for the Megarider and Goldrider will show as different on the Stagecoach website (more expensive than the price you have paid for your pass).

Subsidised bus pass prices can be seen on the table below.

Bus passes for students aged 19+

Students aged 19+ are not eligible for the subsidised travel scheme and will need to purchase a bus pass directly from Stagecoach.

However, you may be eligible for help with the cost towards your bus pass through the bursary if you live:

  • In a household in receipt of income-based benefits
  • In a household with an income of less than £26,000
  • Live more than three miles from the College.

Travelling by car

You are welcome to travel to college by car. There are plenty of parking spaces at our Booth Lane and Daventry campuses.

At Lower Mounts, we run a scheme in partnership with the neighbouring NCP car park (St Michael’s). For a £10 returnable deposit, we can give you a parking card. Using this card, you’ll only pay £1 per day to use the car park at St Michael’s. When you first take out the card, you’ll need to purchase a minimum of £10 credit for the first ten days’ of parking. After that, you can top it up as you need. For further details, speak to the Student Services team at Lower Mounts.

Travelling on foot or by bicycle

We have plenty of cycle points at all our locations so cycling to college couldn’t be easier. There is a secure cycle/motorcycle area at Booth Lane which you can access using your student card once it has been validated by the Estates team.

If you live close by, you may even prefer to walk and get some exercise at the same time!
