The Award in Accounting Software introduces students to the basics of using accounting software. Students that complete this qualification will understand the benefits and risks of using accounting software. They will learn how to set up accounts and record bank and cash transactions using an accounting software package. They will learn how to use the software package to produce a range of reports suitable for uploading.

  • What will I study?

    There is only one unit in Access to Accounting Software for this qualification it has four learning aims:

    1. Understand the benefits and risks of using accounting software
    2. Set up accounts
    3. Record bank and cash transactions
    4. Produce reports using accounting software
  • Who is this course for?

    This course is ideal if you want to learn the basics of using a computerised accounting package. It will prepare you to study Using Accounting Software as part of the AAT Level 2.

  • How is the course assessed?

    This course is assessed by a computer-based exam. At the conclusion of the exam students are expected to upload a number of documents to be assessed externally.

  • Your Study Programme

    Not applicable as this is a part-time course only available to students over the age of 19.

  • General info

    You do not need any special materials you just need to bring a pen, paper and a calculator the use of a mobile phones as a calculator is not permitted. You will be required to register as student member of the AAT as part of the course.

  • Progression and Career Opportunities

    After successful completion of this course you could progress to the Level 1 Access Award in Bookkeeping.

  • Entry Requirements for new students

    Four GCSEs at grade E (2) or above. Successful completion of the AAT Level 1 Award in Business Skills

    *All applicants will be invited for interview

    • Equivalent qualifications will be considered.
    • In exceptional circumstances, applications which do not meet the formal entry criteria may be considered on an individual basis.
  • Admissions Process

    There are no requirements for an interview students that want to do the course can simply enrol on to it for the next available start date. Students that successfully complete the Level 1 Business Skills will be accepted straight onto the course.
