You will cover basic beauty techniques and experience working in a salon. It will give you an introduction to working was a therapist. This course will offer you an opportunity to develop some beauty skills before progressing on to a Level 2 qualification. The method of learning is through a mixture of theory and practical sessions.

    • Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector
    • Presenting a professional image
    • Basic manicure/Hand care
    • Basic pedicure
    • Face painting
    • Basic make-up
    • Health and Safety
    • Create an image

  • Who is this course for?

    This course is ideal for you if you have an interest in beauty therapy and wish to gain a Level 1 qualifiction in beauty therapy.

  • How is the course assessed?

    Assessing is via assignments, written papers and practical work.

  • Your Study Programme

    If you are aged 16-18, you will join a Study Programme.

    We will make sure you are working at the right level on your core qualification and are challenged to achieve the highest level of qualification you can. All students will continue to improve their maths and English and if you don't have a grade 4 (C) at GCSE, we will work with you towards achieving that goal (subject to specific entry requirements for particular courses).

    Work experience will be part of your study programme and complement your college study and prepare you for employment. You will also get involved in activities to help you develop life skills and to build your confidence so you can make progress in your career. Weekly timetables will include tutorial support which may comprise of full group activities or one to one sessions to discuss individual progress or support needs.

    • How to perform advanced consultations for advanced manual and technical therapies to design bespoke treatment plan
    • How to develop and maintain salon procedures to safely control work operations

    • The organisation of the body and the structure and functions of cells, tissues, organs and systems.

    • Maintain safe and effective methods of working to meet industry requirements

    • Implement, perform and adapt advanced manual therapies, facial and body technical therapy techniques

    • Provide detailed, written, post treatment advice and recommendations.

  • General info

    The Lower Mounts Northampton option is just for Beauty Therapy but if you live in Daventry and would like to study some Hairdressing at Level 1 at the Daventry Campus - please apply for the Daventry option as it will cover both Hair and Beauty.

    You will be required to purchase a uniform, equipment and textbook prior to enrolment costing approximately £220.00

  • Progression and Career Opportunities

    After successful completion of this course you could progress to Level 2 in Beauty Therapy or Media Make-up Artistry.

    4 GCSEs at Grade 2.
