Level 3 Beauty and Spa Therapy

The units you will study are likely to include:

• Epilation or Indian Head Massage or Tanning

This course is ideal for you if you have an existing Level 2 Beauty therapy qualification and wish to gain a Level 3 qualifiction in beauty therapy.

The practical work will be assessed by some formative assessments and then a final end of course synoptic exam covering a range of treatments which will be graded.

Theory work is assessed using written or online external tests and some assignment work.

If you are aged 16-18, you will join a Study Programme this could be a vocational or technical qualification. We will make sure you are working at the right level on your core qualification and are challenged to achieve the highest level of qualification you can.

Work experience will be part of your study programme and complement your college study and prepare you for employment. You will also get involved in activities to help you develop life skills and to build your confidence so you can make progress in your career.

If you have chosen to study for a T Level qualification, this will involve college-based theory and practice lessons along with relevant work placement to enable you to gain the knowledge, skills and behaviours that employers are looking for.

Weekly timetables will include tutorial support which may comprise of full group activities or one to one sessions to discuss individual progress or support needs.

All students will continue to improve their maths and English and if you don't have a grade 4 (C) at GCSE, we will work with you towards achieving that goal (subject to specific entry requirements for particular courses).

• How to perform advanced consultations for advanced manual and technical therapies to design bespoke treatment plan

• How to develop and maintain salon procedures to safely control work operations

• The organisation of the body and the structure and functions of cells, tissues, organs and systems.

• Maintain safe and effective methods of working to meet industry requirements

• Implement, perform and adapt advanced manual therapies, facial and body technical therapy techniques

• Provide detailed, written, post treatment advice and recommendations.

• Working collaboratively, contributing ideas and leading by example

• Communicating effectively within a team, and to all clients.

You will be required to purchase kit, uniform and textbooks prior to enrolment - costs approximately £100.

Employment opportunities include working within department stores, becoming a representative for a cosmetic company, salon work, becoming a salon owner, a freelance therapist, working on a cruise liner or health spa.

Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy or equivalent.
