This qualification is made up of a range of topics designed to give you a broad overview of the skills and knowledge needed to lead and manage your teams effectively. Success on this programme plus relevant managerial experience would give you the opportunity to progress to the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management. What will I study?
The units you are likely to study include:
- leading and motivating teams
- problem-solving and decision making
- communication and writing/presentation skills
You will also study how to improve performance in your teams and deal with conflict and discipline amongst other key management responsibilities.

What's Next? Once you have successfully completed your Certificate studies, and you have gained relevant management experience, you might consider progressing to the Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership.

Who is this course for?
This course is ideal for you if you are a team leader or a very new managers who is just starting out in your management career. The structure of this course is very ?hands-on' and practical to give you the skills and knowledge required to ensure the smooth running of a team of staff involved in production or point-of-contact service provision. If you are not yet in a management role then this course will give you the confidence to move in to this area of work.

How is the course assessed?
There are four assignments to be completed, each assignment covering a range of individual units. These are set by ILM and assessed by your tutor.

Entry Requirements for new students
Ideally you will be working in a team leading or management position with day-to-day responsibility for physical and human resources. Assessment of each unit is by written assignment so as well as being able to communicate effectively in English, your written English should be of Level 3 standard. You may be asked to do a short written report to check that you are comfortable with the standard required.
