Summary of course
The Level 2 Musical Theatre coursed enables you to develop your skills in Acting, Dance and singing. It is part of the UAL Performing Arts & Production suite of qualifications at level 2. The Level 2 Diploma in Performing & Production Arts has been designed to provide students with The skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to progress to further study and training in a range of Performing and production Arts subjects, including acting, singing, dancing, musical theatre, lighting design, prop design, stage management, directing and others. Most students will have to option to progress on to a level 3 in a related Arts subject (such as L3 Dance, Musical Theatre or Acting) subject to achievement in the final project and advice & guidance at the end of the year.

All units are required for a diploma, units 1 & 2 for the Award

Your Study Programme
If you are aged 16-18, you will join a Study Programme. We will make sure you are working at the right level on your core qualification and are challenged to achieve the highest level of qualification you can. All students will continue to improve their maths and English and if you dont have a grade C (4) at GCSE, we will work with you towards achieving that goal. Work experience will be part of your study programme and complement your college study and prepare you for employment. You will also get involved in activities to help you develop life skills and to build your confidence so you can make progress in your career. Weekly timetables will include tutorial support which may comprise of full group activities or one to one sessions to discuss individual progress or support needs.

Progression and Career Opportunities
The opportunity arises for students to progress to Level 3 in a related subject area. The expectation is a MERIT or DISTINCTION level achievement to go on to Level 3 and will be subject to advice and guidance at the end of the course and taster days in the summer. Level 3 students should also have GCSE English.
Entry Requirements for new students
Entry requirements for new students - Four GCSEs at Grade D or above or a Level 1 qualification with English and maths at GCSE grades 1-3 [G-D] or Functional Skills Entry Level 3. You must attend the Workshop Session in the summer. All applicants will be invited for interview Equivalent qualifications will be considered.
You must bring your interview letter to your appointment and arrive 15 minutes before your interview is due to take place.

General Info (materials required for the course)
Appropriate dance kits - including clothing and footwear will be expected. Sheet music may be required. All students must come prepared for practical and academic activity - with pens, paper a folder and a memory stick for digital work.
