Your education is a journey and selecting the right path when you’re met with a choice of direction is crucial. It can be a daunting time, but Northampton College is here to support you every step of the way.

Whether you’re aiming for a dream career, university, or an apprenticeship, our T Level courses are designed to help you plan your route to success.

Here’s how we’ll guide you on your T Level journey from start to finish and ensure you make the most of every stage of your course.

Getting Started: Choosing the Right T Level

The first step in your journey is deciding which T Level is right for you. At Northampton College, we offer a range of T Level courses in sectors such as Digital, Business, Engineering, Health, Early Years and Education, Science and Construction. Our expert advisors are on hand to help you explore your interests, understand your career goals, and choose the course that aligns with your ambitions. We also host regular open events where you can meet tutors, tour our state-of-the-art facilities, and get a feel for college life.

Get the Grades: Entry Requirements

T Levels are Level 3 qualifications so the entry requirements will be similar to A Levels or current Level 3 practical and technical qualifications. Generally, you will need to have achieved the standard entry requirement of at least five GCSEs at grades 9-4 or equivalent, including maths and English. Some T Level courses have specific entry requirements so it's worth checking the website for more information.

Building a Strong Foundation: The Classroom Experience

Once you’ve enrolled, your journey begins in the classroom. Our experienced tutors bring real-world expertise into their teaching, ensuring your learning is both engaging and relevant. From industry-standard equipment to cutting-edge technology, you’ll have everything you need to thrive in your studies. Plus, we’ll support you with study skills workshops and personal development sessions to help you stay on track.

Gaining Real-World Experience: Industry Placements

One of the standout features of T Levels is the opportunity to complete a high-quality industry placement. Over the course of your T Level, you’ll spend 45 days working with an employer in your chosen sector. Northampton College has strong partnerships with leading local and national businesses, ensuring you gain meaningful, hands-on experience that employers value. During your placement, you’ll develop practical skills, build professional connections, and gain insight into what it’s really like to work in your chosen industry.

Staying Supported: Guidance Every Step of the Way

We understand that every student’s journey is different and that’s why Northampton College provides personalised support throughout your T Level. From academic tutoring to mental health resources, we’re here to help you overcome challenges and stay focused on your goals. Our dedicated careers team will work with you to identify your next steps as you progress from college to career.

How will T Levels be graded?

The assessment for the qualification will be a mixture of exams, employer-set projects, coursework, workplace observations, and a project/occupational assessment. If you pass all the elements of your T Level you will gain a nationally recognised certificate showing an overall grade of pass, merit, distinction or distinction*. It will also detail what you have achieved on the course.

Reaching Your Destination: Your Future Awaits

By the time you complete your T Level, you’ll be ready to take the next big step toward your future. With UCAS points equivalent to three A Levels, your T Level qualification can open doors to higher education. Alternatively, the skills and experience you’ve gained will prepare you for immediate entry into the workforce. Many students even secure job offers directly through their industry placements!
