Want to know how to make content for your followers but stuck on how to make your content look professional? Then this course is for you.

Social media is a hugely expanding business area whereby both individuals and businesses are netting millions of pounds of income. The course is designed to help you focus on creating engaging content for your own channels which will hopefully increase your followers and put you in a strong position to gain employment within this sector.

Realistically, being the next Alexa Chung or James Charles is unlikely to happen, however, being able to understand how to maximise your audiences and utilise video, audio and graphic skills will enable you to gain employment with a company or business so that they can actively promote their products.

You will be learning skills that will help you to develop high quality professional content and will need to be comfortable in front of the camera.

On completion of this course, you will achieve a Level 2 UAL Diploma in Creative Media Production & Technology.

    Specialist Units:

    • Introduction to creative media methods and skills
    • Introduction to production techniques in creative media
    • Understanding an audience in creative media production
    • Contextual research for creative media production
    • Exploring audio production and technology
    • Exploring visual production and technology
    • Exploring interactive media production and technology
    • Personal project and presentation in creative media production

  • How is the course assessed?

    This course is assessed through internal assessment through submission of coursework via google classroom.

  • Your Study Programme

    We will make sure you are working at the right level on your core qualification and are challenged to achieve the highest level of qualification you can. All students will continue to improve their maths and English and if you dont have a grade C (4) at GCSE, we will work with you towards achieving that goal. Work experience will be part of your study programme and complement your college study and prepare you for employment. You will also get involved in activities to help you develop life skills and to build your confidence so you can make progress in your career. Weekly timetables will include tutorial support which may comprise of full group activities or one to one sessions to discuss individual progress or support needs.

    • Different audiences needs and how to produce content which meets those needs

    • Media language to understand how messages are communicated to an audience

    • A range of pre-production processes with consideration of the impact that these pre-production decisions can have on the quality of the final product.

    • Utilise a range of software and hardware to produce Media content in line with industry conventions
    • effectively Apply rigorous primary and secondary research skills to The development of products
    • Critically evaluate research sources as well as production Work in order to make Effective improvements to completed products.

  • General info

    Students will be expected to purchase some basic equipment relevant to the course. This will be conveyed to them in the form of a kit list, sent via email during the summer before they enrol.

    There may be opportunities to go on trips throughout the year, the cost of these will be discussed with students ahead of time.

  • Progression and Career Opportunities

    After successful completion of this course you could progress to a Level 3 qualification whereby you would specialise your skillset within either Journalism, Creative Media, Games Design or Animation. Once you have completed a full level 3 qualification, you will be able to move in to Higher Education studying courses such as Advertising and Marketing, PR, Journalism and Video Editing.

    Roles included in these areas include Social Media Managers, Marketing Assistants, Digital Media Executives and Content Producer amongst others.

  • Entry Requirements for new students

    Four GCSEs at grade 3 including English Language or Literature or an appropriate Level 1 programme with English and maths GCSE at grade 2-3

These events have proved very successful in ensuring students and their families see the best of what the college has to offer such as our inspirational teaching areas, teachers, library facilities and places to eat.
