The Northampton College Corporation

The Northampton College Corporation is a non-executive committee that meets monthly to monitor the College's performance and make decisions on strategy, policy and finance.

The College has long been recognised as providing a very broad range of education and training provision which meets individual aspirations as well as serving the needs of the diverse and expanding Northamptonshire economy.

Corporation members

Collectively, the Members of the Corporation are responsible for:

  1. The determination of the educational character and mission of the institution and for the oversight of its activities
  2. The effective and efficient use of resources, the solvency of the institution and the Corporation and for safeguarding their assets
  3. Approving annual estimates of income and expenditure
  4. The appointment, grading, suspension, dismissal and determination of the pay and conditions of service of the holders of senior posts and the Clerk and setting a framework for the pay and conditions of service of all other staff.

Members serve for a period of four years at a time and give their services without being paid.

  • Declaration of interests

    The Corporation was established by Act of Parliament in 1992 and operates in accordance with the Instrument and Articles of Government approved by Parliament in 1999 and Standing Orders and Terms of Reference approved by the Corporation and reviewed annually. The Corporation has also approved a Code of Conduct for its members, which requires members to declare any interests which may conflict with their role as a Governor. The register of interests is available for inspection at the College's reception.
