As families start to prepare for the new academic year, the law now requires young people to continue in education and training until they are 18.

The Government has increased the time that young people must spend in education and training and this can include a number of options;

  • Studying full-time in a school, college or with a training provider as part of a job

  • Working or volunteering full-time, combined with part-time education or training

  • Taking up an Apprenticeship or Traineeship

Principal at Northampton College, Pat Brennan-Barrett, explained what the change in the law means for young people and outlined some of the options available for them in Northamptonshire.
