Northampton College's bid for funding to help develop a new college building in Daventry has been approved. The College made its bid to the South East Midlands Enterprise Partnership (SEMLEP) in response to the Local Growth Fund to support its plans for a completely new centre in the town that will offer vocational training for young people and adults.

The funds, from central government, will enable the College to move forward with scoping its plans for the new centre. Construction will start in May 2015 and the new centre will open its doors in September 2016. The centre will provide places for 700 students, including 200 Apprenticeships, and will focus on developing the skills identified as central to the local economy. The College worked in partnership with SEMLEP on the bid with the support from Northamptonshire County Council and Daventry District Council.
