The safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults is of paramount importance to us at Northampton College; ensuring a safe, positive, and secure environment for our students is fully embraced by all and underpins the College’s values.

Safeguarding is the action that is taken to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm, including:

  • Protecting children from abuse and maltreatment
  • Preventing harm to children’s health or development
  • Ensuring children grow up with the provision of safe and effective care
  • Taking action to enable all children and young people to have the best outcomes.

As an education provider and in accordance with the relevant government legislation, Northampton College has a statutory and moral duty to commit to practices that protect young people and vulnerable adults from abuse, neglect or significant harm.

It is our number one priority to equip our students and staff with the skills and knowledge to stay safe both in and outside of College, and we have a dedicated safeguarding team, who are always available to assist with difficult or potentially harmful problems that students may face at College or at home.

All Northampton College students are supplied with the information, advice and support that they need to stay safe and actively participate in College life, and to proactively spot and report potential risks to their own safety or that of others.

College staff recognise and accept their responsibility to develop an awareness of the risks and issues involved in safeguarding. The College is committed to working with Northamptonshire Safeguarding Children’s’ Partnership and other agencies to ensure the safeguarding of its students.
