adult skills webHas the COVID-19 pandemic changed the way you think about work? Has it prompted you to think that maybe now is the time to make a change in your career?

Northampton College is giving workers across the county the chance to update their skills and equip them with the knowledge they need to pursue alternative pathways and explore new opportunities.

A range of free maths, English and IT courses, specifically designed for adults already in work, will allow people to upskill and make themselves better placed to apply for alternative roles.

Principal of Northampton College. Pat Brennan-Barrett, said: The disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has, for many people, put life on hold. But that temporary pause, that shift away from previous day-to-day life, has also provided the perfect opportunity to take stock and to think about the kind of life you want to lead going forward.

By taking some time to focus on what lessons you can learn from lockdown, you can begin to make positive changes to both your personal life and your career to help you thrive, not only now but in the future too, whatever that may look like.

If lockdown has made you realise that you want to do something that feels more worthwhile or you're uncertain how secure your job is, there's never been a better time to upskill.

Our maths and English courses are designed to help you boost your confidence and open up a whole new world of opportunity. Courses range from basic skills, such as simple sums and understanding grammar, to nationally recognised GCSE qualifications.

We also offer a range of IT courses for adults anyone looking to upskill in those areas, meaning you can stay up to date with technology that's changing the way the modern workplace functions.

Adult courses at Northampton College are delivered by supportive, experienced tutors in a friendly, COVID-secure environment.

Students will benefit from increased confidence and will gain the enjoyment of learning and working alongside other people who understand how they feel.

They will see improvements in maths, English and IT for employability and everyday life and will get opportunities to progress through the different levels at their own pace.

All maths and English classes are free, along with some IT classes, and are available throughout the week at different times and locations.
