A part-time Millinery student who had never before created a hat now has her work displayed at a national exhibition run by one of the country's leading museums of art and design. Sally Kilsby, 51 is studying on the Millinery course at the College's Booth Lane site one evening a week, and was chosen from 441 adult entrants nationwide in the Victoria and Albert Museum's annual Inspired by competition.

Her striking hat, which was made with felt, orange satin ribbon and stripped quills and based on a South African plant Strelitzia Reginae, will be on display at the Inspired by... event at Morley College, London until 19 June, along with other textile designs, fashion, jewellery, sculptures, ceramics, prints and paintings. All exhibits at the event are based on pieces from the Victoria and Albert Museum's collections at South Kensington or Museum of Childhood and have been created by part-time adult students nationwide.
