Our new Sixth Form Centre, launching at Booth Lane next September, is designed to provide students aged 16-18 with an enriching and challenging academic experience.

“Our Sixth Form Centre bridges the gap between school and university and allows you to take the next steps on your academic journey.

“You will be able to enjoy all the benefits of a larger learning organisation with outstanding buildings and resources coupled with personalised support to give you the very best environment in which to flourish and reach your potential.”

  • A Level Study Programme

If you are aged 16-18, you will join a Study Programme.

Throughout the programme, you will engage in three core A Level subjects, each receiving 5 hours of delivery per week. This model ensures maximum regular contact with each subject, enabling a deep understanding of the course material and encouraging active participation in class discussions.

Your academic progress will be complemented by an additional 1.5 hours per week dedicated to interpersonal/soft and green skills. This time will be devoted to nurturing essential life skills and building your confidence, allowing you to excel not only academically but also in your personal development.

Alongside your timetabled lessons, you will be allocated 5 hours per week for self-study. This is an integral part of the A Level experience, allowing you to delve into the subjects' content independently. This self-directed learning approach fosters critical thinking, time management, and problem-solving skills, equipping you for the demands of higher education and beyond.

As part of the A Level programme, you will gain invaluable insights into various industries by taking part in work experience or by hearing from visiting speakers and professional institutions when they come into college. You’ll also have the opportunity take part in masterclasses, workshops and university visits.

In addition to the core components, we also offer a Gifted and Talented programme and the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), available to Year 13/Upper Sixth students. These initiatives are designed to challenge and stimulate, offering opportunities for advanced research and exploration within your chosen subjects.

  • Entry Requirements

The required point score to join our A Level programme is 4.25 across all your GCSEs. This must include a minimum of 5 grade 5s or above including a grade 5 or above in English Language and Maths, with a grade 6 in another written subject desirable. An average point score will be calculated across your GCSE grades.

A BTEC qualification at Merit grade, or above, in a related subject may also be considered in exceptional circumstances.

Some subjects require specific additional entry requirements as shown in the course descriptors on our website.

All applicants will be invited for interview.
